This is a very simple recipe to make using Quaker Oats Quick 1 Minute Oatmeal. However, the key to making this gourmet style is to simmer the oatmeal on a low boil for about 10 minutes instead of the 1 minute that Quaker suggests. By simmering on a low boil for 10 minutes, the oatmeal really expands and becomes fluffy and delicious. And adding cardamom to the mix, makes it a delicious way to start the day.
Prep Time: 1 Minute Cook Time: 10 Minutes Yield: 2 Servings
INGREDIENTS 1 Cup Quaker Oats Quick 1 Minute Oatmeal 1 1/2 Cup Water 1 1/2 Cup Milk 2 Tablespoons brown sugar 3/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
DIRECTIONS: Boil 1 cup water and 1 cup milk, turn heat to low so liquid boils on low
Add oatmel, brown sugar and cardamom
Boil on a low simmer for 5 minutes, stirring often
Add remaining 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup milk
Continue to boil on a low simmer for another 5 minutes, stirring often
Add more milk or water as needed as the oatmeal boils to ensure it is a nice creamy texture. Make sure liquid is not completely evaporated. It tastes best a little creamy.
Add cut up bananas, blueberries or apples.
Enjoy!
