If you are anything like us here at KidTrail, hiking is one of our favorite things to do. It’s top on our agenda during our visits to Cali or Arizona and what amazing hikes they are! But, just because you live in the Midwest doesn’t mean you can’t have a fun and challenging hike.
Starved Rock is definitely one place to check out for 13 miles of well marked hiking trails filled with amazing canyons and waterfalls. It really is a surprising awe to see these canyons and waterfalls after driving through endless flat Illinois farm land. It will leave you wondering if you somehow arrived in some magical west coast destination. If you hike during the winter, it will leave you amazed as the freezing of the waterfalls creates spectacular ice sculptures in the canyons.
Located in Utica, IL, Starved Rock is only a 1 1/2 hour drive from Chicago.
